ABOUT ME
I understand from personal experience that life presents challenges and difficulties, and questions which don’t always have clear answers. Sometimes we know where we want to go, but don’t always know which road to take. At other times we are faced with pain and loss, and need to begin a path towards living with hope and purpose again.
After a number of years working in the business world, I earned a master’s degree in clinical pastoral counseling, becoming licensed in Ohio as a professional clinical counselor. In that capacity, I served adults and children in a variety of areas, including anxiety and depression, relationship and parenting issues, chronic illness, end of life and grief issues, as well as sexual betrayal trauma. In my years as a therapist, and now as a life coach, I have been privileged to walk with others as they grow more and more into who they were born to be—who God created them to be--without the harmful effects which have shaped all of us on this earth. I believe that living with hope, despite difficult circumstances is a gift we can give ourselves.
I walked through cancer as a young adult, and have experienced infertility, loss, and difficulties that I consider growing pains. I have also experienced the devastation of sexual betrayal. I have moved across the United States more than once, and have lived in big cities and small towns. I have three fuzzy-faced children that most people call pets. I have changed careers, changed dreams, and changed habits. I love what C.S. Lewis says, “ You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” I have been awed by watching others do just this, with grace and humility, and sometimes discomfort.
