FAQs

+ How do we connect?

No matter where you live, one of the great benefits of coaching, is that we connect in the private location of your choice. You may choose to meet from the comfort of your home, or during lunch time in your office, or even in your car. We can meet by video online through Zoom or by telephone, if you prefer. On occasions, by request, we may meet locally in person.

+ What do I bring to our sessions?

  • For the 30-minute free consultation, you will complete a short form to guide our meeting together. You will be able to ask questions about coaching, express concerns, and share two or three thoughts regarding what you want to address in coaching.
  • For other sessions, you will decide what you would like to accomplish during our time together and you may bring results of work you have done, discoveries you have made, or resources you have explored since our last appointment.

+ Is my information confidential?

As a coach, I am committed to keeping your information and our conversations confidential. However, there are some exceptions to this:

  • I can release information upon written request of the client.
  • If there are occasions where supervision is required, I may share client information in order to gain insight and expertise. In these cases, confidentiality will also be observed.
  • I have a duty to protect, and I am required to report to appropriate authorities such things as suspected child, or elder abuse, threats of physical harm to self or others or plans to commit a crime.
  • Coaching is subject to local governing authorities, and it is possible that records could be subpoenaed by a court.

+ What is not included in your scope of work as a coach?

I am only able to provide services consistent with my training and competency as a coach. Although I am a counselor, I will not be providing counseling services as a coach. It is important to me that my clients receive the best possible care in all circumstances. I understand that there are certain situations where clients may require services which fall outside of the assistance and support I provide as a coach. These situations are not limited to but may include the following:

  • If clients experience mental health issues such as addictions, severe anxiety, depression, suicidal or homicidal ideation, I will encourage them to seek care from physicians or other licensed professionals, and may refer them to other support services.
  • I am unable to work with clients who are at risk of physical harm by another person in their lives; if clients are experiencing any type of violence, including domestic, physical or sexual, or who are under the protection of a court order, I will encourage them to seek care from a licensed clinical professional.
  • I am unable to work with clients who are under the influence of or actively addicted to mind-altering substances, such as drugs or alcohol. Once such clients are receiving professional care for this and have achieved stable sobriety, we will be able to resume coaching.

+ Is there anything else I should know?

  • I encourage you to ask questions or raise concerns at any point during time together. Trust and integrity are at the heart of a coaching relationship, and open and honest dialog is necessary to maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for the work we do together.
  • I do not discriminate against any race, ethnicity, social class, gender identity, or religion.
  • I maintain written records of goals, session notes, work completed, and financial payments. These are stored in a secure locked area or a password protected site for written records.
